Brian .. All the best for a fast and safe journey. I know how much this means to you and I know that you can handle anything that comes along. Be safe .. we need you for part two. - Ray

Not saying this means anything, but I just noticed, that with the three boats that had to 'exit' the race for one reason or another, there are only 8 teams now, Aud Eamus is the 8th to start and the boat number is 88. Hmmm. Anyway, best of luck to you all, all 8 teams. All 11 teams really. My heart goes out to those that put their soul into doing this and now will have to wait for another time. Godspeed everyone.

Oh Caveman I'm so sorry to hear you are no longer on the team. After knowing you for all these years and adventures I know just how much of an asset you are to any team, I'm sure they will miss you. To the rest of the team I hope all goes well. Cheers Shell

Helen and the crew of Audeamus. Let's hope the weather abates and you will soon be on your way. We have got into the tracking mode and can't wait to see your dot moving. Look after each other, protect each other and work as a team for each other. Out of adversity you will become a strong unit. We will celebrate with you in Mauritius. Our love to you, as always Mum & Dad xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Bri Bri!!! I miss you already! Hurry back so I can school you at the rock gym :) Be safe friend and if you get into trouble just scoot away, I heard you were pretty good at scooting ;)

Having at the last minute been replaced as a crew member for reasons that are not entirely clear, I wish you all the very best in your venture. I have no doubt in each and every individual's ability to achieve your own personal goals. However, I hope that the deficiency in the organisation and obvious lack of leadership jells together because this is what it's going to take to get everyone safely across the ocean. It has been a great pleasure to meet you all and I sincerely wish you the greatest success.

I love this quote: "Most people spend their entire lives dreaming of adventure, of leaving the safe and familiar and doing something that probes their limits, their deepest fears, and experiencing the rush of triumph reserved for only those who confront risk. Most people live their entire lives never acting on that dream." -- Sir Chay Blyth Simon, Where is that guy anyway these days???

I'm getting 'butterflies' thinking of you 8 getting off to a great start. Please watch over one another, I think you have a great team and have no doubt in my mind you will make it. You will all have such stories to tell everyone for generations! Remember, you are all in this together, so even in closed quarters, love one another, keep a level head, and enjoy the ride! GODSPEED EVERYONE!

Thanks for all the messages. Thanks to the Shepard family for coming out. all of the other boats got off yesterday and I will have pics up soon. The Internet is slow in Geraldton. The Eight will be leaving on the 22nd at 11AM. They wanted to let the other boats get clear of the islands before setting off. The row out with the other boats for their start proved to be good for Adeamus as she rows fast! The auto rudder appears to be working well.

Neill and Hazel, Good to hear from you. email me at debmole@sbcglobal.net we need to start a support group for people addicted to dot watching. You will understand what I mean when they leave.....Woodvale updates the tracking 4 times a day. Each boat has a dot, Indian Ocean 8's dot is a blue/green color. During Angela's Atlantic crossing I got addicted to checking the green dot's progress 4 times a day. When they arrived in Antigua, I went through dot withdrawal! Please do email me as I would like to start a family list so we can communicate while they are gone. PS: I will also be updating the website and blog with info and pictures from Australia.

Neill & Hazel said:   March 26, 2009 12:10 pm PST
Good luck and best wishes to you all. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity and grab it while you can. We will be tracking you every day, so we can book our tickets to come and meet you in Mauritius. Look after each other (Helen's Mum and Dad)

A first message from Belgium! D-day is very very very near now. I think a lot about you all... as well a little a lot jealous. I suppose everyone is packing bags. Don't take too much, try to be light ;-)! One thing is sure, my buddy Bernard won't be the big weight in the boat. I hope you will all take good care of each other. Good luck! I'll be on line during your indian ocean trip. hug, Sof

Thanks Sarah! I am sure we would not be here without you! Unfinished Business was so helpful to RowofLife in the Atlantic Rowing Race 2007, it would have been difficult to make it to the start without all your support and valuable advice, oh and Tara's endless supply of underwater patch. Deb, RowofLife and PirateRow

Best of luck to the 8 of you!!! I'll be following you guys and wishing you the best in the coming months... although I'll be jealous :). Definitely miss the ocean, but will just have to live vicariously through you guys. Fair winds and following seas! Sarah, Unfinished Business '07 & American Fire '05
